Common questions

Common questions.

Dr. Raj is a visiting consultant at MID Dental Clinic in City Walk, Dubai. He focuses on TMJ disorders and jaw pain, teeth grinding and clenching (bruxism), oral appliance therapy for snoring and sleep-disordered breathing, and neuromuscular orthodontics.

Neuromuscular dentistry looks at the bite together with the jaw muscles and joints, rather than the teeth alone. It uses measurements of muscle activity and jaw movement to help plan treatment for jaw pain and bite-related functional problems.

Snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea are diagnosed by a physician, usually with a sleep study. When an oral appliance is suitable, a dentist trained in dental sleep medicine can make and adjust a custom device that holds the lower jaw forward during sleep. Dr. Raj provides this treatment alongside the diagnosing physician.
