Wisdom Tooth Removal
Assessment and removal of wisdom teeth affected by pain, infection, decay, impaction or damage to nearby structures.
Wisdom tooth removal in Dubai
Wisdom teeth are the last adult teeth to develop. Some erupt normally and remain healthy, while others become partially erupted, impacted or difficult to clean. Removal is considered when a wisdom tooth causes disease or presents a significant clinical concern.
When might removal be recommended?
Possible reasons include repeated gum infection around a partially erupted tooth, pain, decay that cannot be restored predictably, damage to a neighbouring tooth, gum disease or a cyst. Wisdom teeth without disease do not automatically require removal and may instead be monitored.
Assessment and procedure
Dental imaging helps determine the tooth's position, root shape and relationship to nearby structures. Three-dimensional imaging may be recommended for selected lower wisdom teeth close to a nerve.
Removal is performed under appropriate anaesthesia. An impacted tooth may require a gum incision, limited bone removal or division into sections. Your dentist explains the planned approach and case-specific risks before treatment.
Recovery after removal
Swelling, soreness, bruising or restricted mouth opening can occur temporarily. Follow instructions concerning food, oral hygiene, medication and activity. Seek advice if bleeding continues, swelling worsens unexpectedly, fever develops or you experience difficulty breathing or swallowing.
