First Dental Visit for Babies and Toddlers
An early dental assessment that helps parents protect their child's developing teeth and establish healthy daily habits.
Your child's first dental visit in Dubai
A child's first dental visit is recommended when the first tooth appears and no later than approximately 12 months of age. This early appointment allows the dentist to examine dental development, identify cavity risk and help parents establish suitable oral-care routines.
What happens during the appointment?
The dentist gently examines the teeth, gums, bite and oral tissues. The visit may include guidance about brushing, fluoride toothpaste, feeding habits, teething, pacifier use and preventing early childhood tooth decay.
Dental X-rays are not routinely required for every first visit. They are considered only when the child's history, symptoms or examination indicates a diagnostic need.
Creating a positive introduction
When no urgent problem exists, the first appointment is usually short and educational. Age-appropriate language and gradual familiarisation help introduce the child to the dental environment without unnecessary pressure.
What happens next?
The dentist recommends a personalised review schedule based on the child's development and cavity risk. Preventive care may later include fluoride treatment, dental sealants and routine examinations.
