Tooth Extraction
Careful removal of a tooth that cannot be predictably restored or is affecting oral health.
Tooth extraction in Dubai
Tooth extraction may be recommended when a tooth is severely decayed, extensively fractured, affected by advanced periodontal disease or cannot be maintained predictably with restorative or root canal treatment. Extraction may also be considered for selected orthodontic treatment plans.
Is extraction the only option?
Before recommending removal, the dentist assesses whether the tooth can be preserved. Depending on the condition, alternatives may include a filling, crown, periodontal treatment or root canal treatment. Extraction is recommended when preserving the tooth is unsuitable or carries an unfavourable prognosis.
What happens during extraction?
After local anaesthesia, the tooth is gently loosened and removed. If it cannot be accessed or removed routinely, a surgical extraction may be required. The treatment area is inspected before aftercare instructions are provided.
Recovery and replacing the tooth
Temporary bleeding, tenderness and swelling may occur. Avoid smoking, forceful rinsing and drinking through a straw during the early healing period. Follow the personalised instructions provided by your dentist.
If the extracted tooth needs replacement, options such as a dental implant, bridge or denture can be discussed after assessing the site and your overall oral health.
