What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a fixed restoration designed to replace one or more missing teeth. It uses artificial replacement teeth supported by natural teeth, dental restorations or implants, depending on the bridge design and clinical situation.

Replacing a missing tooth may improve chewing, speech and appearance. It may also help limit unwanted movement of neighbouring teeth. A dental examination is required to determine whether a bridge is appropriate.

Types of Dental Bridges

Bridge designs include traditional tooth-supported bridges, cantilever bridges, resin-bonded bridges and implant-supported bridges. Caring for a Dental Bridge

Brush twice daily and clean beneath the replacement tooth using the method recommended by your dentist or hygienist. Floss threaders, interdental brushes or a water flosser may be suggested. Regular dental check-ups help monitor the bridge and its supporting teeth.
