Single-Tooth Dental Implant

A personalised single-tooth implant solution in Dubai using an implant and custom crown to replace a suitable missing tooth.

Replacing One Missing Tooth with an Implant

A single-tooth dental implant replaces a missing tooth using an implant placed in the jawbone, an abutment and a custom dental crown. It may provide an alternative to a conventional bridge because neighbouring teeth do not always need to be prepared for support.

Suitability depends on the health of the gums, available bone, bite, medical history, healing factors and location of the missing tooth. An implant is not automatically the right option for every patient.

Assessment and Treatment Stages

Planning may include dental X-rays, three-dimensional imaging and digital scans. The dentist evaluates the bone and nearby structures and discusses the planned implant position, restoration and possible alternatives.

  1. Preparation: Oral-health problems are treated and grafting is considered when bone support is insufficient.
  2. Implant placement: The implant is surgically positioned using local anaesthesia.
  3. Healing: Time is allowed for the implant to integrate with the surrounding bone.
  4. Final crown: After suitable healing, a custom crown is attached and the bite is checked.

The implant and final crown may not be placed on the same day. A temporary-tooth option may be discussed when clinically appropriate.

Appearance and Function

The final crown is planned to complement nearby teeth in shape, size and shade. The result and adaptation vary according to the starting condition, gum position and bite. Implant restorations can support normal function, but they are not identical to natural teeth and require ongoing care.

Risks and Maintenance

Possible complications include infection, delayed healing, injury to nearby structures, implant loosening and mechanical problems with the crown or connecting components. Smoking and uncontrolled oral or general-health conditions may increase risk.

Brush daily, clean around the implant and attend regular examinations and professional cleaning. Contact the clinic if the crown feels loose, the area becomes painful or the gums bleed persistently.

Common questions

Questions about this treatment.

It is a tooth-replacement treatment consisting of an implant in the jawbone, a connecting abutment and a custom crown.

Not always. Many implants need a healing period before the final crown is attached. Immediate restoration is suitable only in selected cases.

A single implant generally supports its own crown, so neighbouring teeth do not usually need preparation for support. Clinical circumstances may vary.

Healing commonly takes several months, but the timeline varies with implant location, bone quality, additional procedures and individual healing.

Brush and clean around it daily and attend regular professional reviews. Your dentist can demonstrate suitable interdental-cleaning methods.
