What Are Metal Braces?
Metal braces use brackets attached to the teeth and orthodontic wires to guide planned tooth movement. Additional components such as elastics may be used when specific movements or bite corrections are required.

Caring for Braces
Temporary tenderness may occur after fitting and adjustments. Avoid hard or sticky foods that could damage brackets and wires. Brush around every bracket and clean between the teeth daily to reduce plaque accumulation, decay and gum inflammation.
Contact the clinic if a bracket becomes loose, a wire causes injury or the appliance breaks. Do not attempt to cut or repair it without professional guidance.
