Dentures can become loose or uncomfortable as the gums and supporting bone change over time. They may also develop worn teeth, cracks, fractures or damaged components that require professional assessment.

Denture adjustment

An adjustment modifies selected pressure areas when a denture causes rubbing or sore spots. Persistent discomfort should be examined because it may result from fit, bite, tissue inflammation or another oral condition.

Denture relining

Relining adds new material to the fitting surface to improve contact with the gums. It may be considered when the denture remains otherwise serviceable but no longer fits adequately. A reline cannot correct every design, bite or structural problem.

Denture repair

Repair may be possible for a crack, broken base, damaged clasp or detached denture tooth. The denture and mouth must be examined before confirming whether repair is suitable. Severely worn, repeatedly repaired or poorly fitting dentures may need replacement through the existing full and partial dentures service.

Avoid home repairs

Do not use household glue or attempt to reshape the denture yourself. These methods can damage the appliance, expose the mouth to unsuitable materials and make professional repair more difficult.
